In 1943, at the age of 19, MSgt Herman E. Molen’s aircraft
was shot down while on a mission over Germany. He was
captured and held as a POW at Stalag 17 for 19 months. He
escaped three times was recaptured each time. His time at
the POW camp was portrayed in the movie “Stalag 17” with
William Holden starring as MSgt Molen. Following his release
and the end of the war, MSgt Molen remained in the United
States Air Force with a total of 41 years of service. During
this time he saw tours in the Korean Conflict and the
Vietnam War. Among the many medals and commendations he
received, he was awarded the Bronze Star and three purple
hearts. Over the past three decades, Herman Molen served as
National Commander for the Ex-Prisoners of War. He was
instrumental in getting federal legislation approved to
benefit veterans and their families.

We will stand the Flag Line at Eubank Funeral Home for
1:00pm visitation and a 2:00pm funeral service. Following
the start of the service we will furl the flags and those
riders able to attend the interment will be dismissed for
the trip to Greenville. The riders staying in Canton will
render honors as the transfer to the coach is conducted.
There WILL NOT be a procession to the cemetery in
Greenville.

- Iron horses if you can, cages are always welcome and
appreciated.

properly hydrate (including the night before) before any
outdoor activity and to dress appropriately. Do not hesitate
to take a break at any time if you feel you need to get in
the shade or get indoors and always ask for help at any
time. Also please do not forget your sun screen.

FLAG LINE!
- Cemeteries are hallowed ground. Please
keep radios off and engine noise to a minimum. Observe the
15 MPH speed limit. Show our respect to ALL who are there,
not just the one we are honoring.
